| If you’ve ever been a student, athlete or parent you’re all too familiar with the time of year that brings the awful, over-priced chocolates into your home. Fund-raising time! You know the chocolates I’m talking about, the ones you end up eating yourself and cutting a nice fat cheque to the school or team for! If you’ve ever wished there was some other, healthier and less wasteful way to raise funds for school trips or new team uniforms, look no further that Green Students Fundraising. Founded in 2007, Green Students Fundraising was started to attempt to combine environmental education and stewardship with something that most elementary school kids have to do anyway; fundraising. At first, their only fund-raising product was CFL light-bulbs but since the early days, with demand for their services growing rapidly, the Green Students team has had to expand and they now offer a range of fundraising products. The products currently include Klean Kanteen stainless steel water bottles, Nellies Dryerballs, Botanical Paperworks greeting cards and tags that can be planted after use. And finally, Laptop Lunch kits for litter free lunches. Green Students Fundraising’s success and demand have allowed them to offer more products at lower prices, ensuring that 30% of total sales go to the fundraisers and, unlike the afore mentioned low-quality, over-priced chocolates, many of the products are competitive with and often beat retail prices. This holiday season, the Green Students’ team have added a new fundraiser to their catalogue that includes new products such as 100% recycled holiday gift bags, plantable holiday cards and 2009 calendars and a points/rewards system that can win the fundraiser some cool, green prizes!
