Fact. Those little 'Stand by' lights and digital time-displays on your TV, stereo, computer, monitor, electric shaver, coffee maker, DVD player, Gaming consol, etc. that come on when the device is 'off', will consume much more energy throughout the life of any given device than the actual running time (or 'on' time) of that device. Hard to believe? Think about it... While you're at work, while you're sleeping, while you're on vacation, if that device is plugged in, that little light and time-display is on, waiting for you to walk in the room so it can say: "It's 3:48 and I'm ready to go!". It's a waste of your money and of precious energy. So plug everything in your entertainment unit and computer station into an easily accessible powerbar that you can turn on and off before and after using it. And unplug anything with a light or a time-display on it that doesn't need to be plugged in like coffee makers and other small kitchen appliances. And don't forget to only plug your phone charger in when you're charging your phone and to turn your computer off when not in use or at least overnight. |
