| Hemp Oil as a Wood Sealer | | | The Industrial Hemp plant is an amazing thing. Its fibers can be used to make anything from clothing to plastics to paper and canvas. Its seeds contain an oil that is also useful in its own way to make any number of beauty products and hemp-seed oil is also a very effective water-sealer on wood! Use it to seal your deck instead of going with a chemical-based water sealer. I've personally found it just as effective as Tompson's water sealer for penetrating the wood, beading water and giving the wood a nice warm finish. Like any other sealer you have to reapply every 1-2 years on exterior jobs but with 100% pure hemp-seed oil you know you aren't exposing your children or your environment to anything toxic. Hemp-seed oil is also food-safe it can be used to keep your cutting-boards and counter tops healthy. You can also use it to seal hard-wood floors and any other stained or virgin wood furniture. A US Gallon (3.8 litres) of 100% pure hemp-seed oil goes for about $50 and covers up to 130 sq. ft. To get your hands on some hemp-seed oil, visit our Green Business Directory and search for 'Hempola' or 'Homestead Paint Company'. | | |
